Dear Temenos members and friends,
I want to send you a few thoughts about the Temenos and its premiere of Gregory J. Markopoulos’s Eniaios Cycles XII – XIV in 2021. The impact of Covid-19 and the pace of vaccination in the world, particularly in Greece, have had a serious impact. Organizing bus travel and hospitality in Arcadia for previous Temenos screenings was always a lively challenge, and, with the current risks, there are added obstacles. At least half of our public would be traveling great distances and many are young without any prospect of a vaccine for the time being; additionally, our hosts, especially the women who rent us their guest-rooms are mostly elderly. For this and other reasons I feel that it is better to continue the restoration of further cycles and work with the film lab to make internegatives and a projection copy, while maintaining contact with the local government in Arcadia.
We should plan the three-week series of Eniaios I – XV projections for Summer 2022. Then we still have the fifty reels in the final eight cycles Eniaios XVI – XXII to save.
Wishing you all the best,
Robert Beavers – March 2021
